Earned media, also known as free media, refers to publicity garnered organically—outside of that which is gained through advertising, known as @Paid Media or @Owned Media, which refers to branding. [1] Earned media grants third-party credibility—highlighting someone who isn’t paid by a company believes in their products, insights, etc. to mention, quote, or promote the brand. Media that appears earned is often @Native Advertising which has been engineered to appear as such. The @Trading Up The Chain method, popularized by @Ryan Holiday's @Trust Me I'm Lying in 2014, opened the flood gates to this kind of @Media Manipulation.
