The human use of human beings is (1) a @paradigm whereby people make use of other people to accomplish tasks rather than employing technology for the same purpose. The same language also encapsulates (2) use of behavioral manipulation to increase profits for businesses built on a model that monetizes attention, often to the detriment of its users—known as @Authoritarian Technology. The language for this phenomena was oriented by @Norbert Wiener in his #book, ' Human Use of Human Beings: Cybernetics & Society' which prompted social and scientific upheaval when it was published in 1988. Weiner, now considered 'Godfather of Cybernetics', examined the use of cybernetics for education, law, language, science, technology. In his book, Weiner anticipates the enormous impact—in effect, a third industrial revolution—the computer has had on our lives. Wiener had hoped machines would release people from relentless and repetitive drudgery in order to achieve more creative pursuits. Today, a @Data Industrial Complex has emerged—comprising of multi-billion-dollar enterprises like @Facebook, @Alphabet, etc.—with a fiduciary responsibility to capitalize on the attention of their users. While the practice this despite the ever increasing correlations between with anxiety, depression, addiction, and even suicide.
