Mythos

The @subredditr/popular is a default feed on the social news aggregation website @Reddit, designed to showcase top-ranked posts from a wide array of communities while excluding @Not Safe for Work (NSFW) and other commonly filtered subreddits. Launched in 2017, it served as the default @Front Page for logged-out users to offer a more inclusive view of the site than the previous set of @Default (Reddit) communities. According to Reddit CEO @Steve Huffman, r/popular will be phased out for new users and removed from core app feeds, as he argued that it represents the preferences of only the most active users, not the broader community. The platform is transitioning to more personalized feeds to better match individual user interests. Reddit is also implementing a new policy, starting March 31st, 2026, which limits users to moderating a maximum of five high-traffic communities to curb the influence of "powermods."
