I’m looking to connect with Corporations, Academics, and Designers that have access to knowledge, resources, and suppliers that relate to Biomaterials.
The goal would be to find ready-to-manipulate (or near-ready-to-manipulate) materials that I might be able to use to build art & narratives that encourage a promote the idea of Regenerative Design.
Why I’m interested in Biomaterials?
Biomaterials (A material derived from, or produced by, biological organisms like plants, animals, bacteria, fungi, and other life forms)/ are almost always more sustainable than their petroleum counterparts, and with plastic consumption at an all-time high - we need to be supporting and encouraging the development and adoption of alternative materials.
The research revolution in bio-materials like algae, mycelium, and waste by-products is a critical piece of technology necessary to help us move into a production cycle that is more aligned with the cycles of nature. It’s not perfect, but it’s a step in the right direction, and I want my work to help support that movement.
Who I am & how I might help.
I (Benjamin Von Wong) am an artist, and activist focused on environmental issues and have generated over 100M views for causes like fast fashion, ocean plastics, and electronic waste.
I have been looking to shift my work from focusing exclusively on “problems” to exploring future-forward ”solutions” that are exciting and more sustainable.
Because Art is not bound by the same unit economics as manufacturing, it is the perfect marketing and storytelling medium to ignite a sense of imagination in others. The creation of bold ambitious art helps the regenerative movement by placing it at the forefront of culture, bringing along with it SEO and brand recognition for the various collaborators.
It’s a unique communication tool, particularly well adapted for a mobile content-starved generation.
