David Metzler is the founder & CEO of CBD Capital Group. We met on LinkedIn and become friends in San Diego.
David is a heart-driven serial entrepreneur and a good man. David started his career in the Navy, because he always wanted to give back to my country. He served for 5 years as both a Rescue Swimmer and then as an Air Traffic Controller and was awarded multiple medals for "Leadership" and "Valor".
After the Navy he went to Columbia University in New York where I graduated in two years, while also working at the Earth Institute increasing “drought crop yields” to feed starving people in Ghana. After Columbia, David was an Investment banker at CIBC World Markets and then became a VC at Mission Ventures.
After analyzing thousands of business plans and potential investments he caught the “entrepreneur bug”.
He started his first company OneHealth and grew it to over 60 employees, while also closing the approximately $16MM of Venture Capital dollars needed to create the software platform that helped save over 40,000 people lives.
After OneHealth he raised $4MM to create a fitness platform, Wildfire Inc., that helped fight childhood obesity — every time a member exercised at one of our 450 studio locations we donated to help children.
David is nine years younger than me.
