Scott Galloway is a #speaker, #author, #podcaster, and #entrepreneur. Galloway is an adjunct professor of marketing at the New York University Stern School of Business and the founder of L2. In 2012, Professor Galloway was named “One of the World’s 50 Best Business School Professors” by Poets & Quants. He is also the founder of Red Envelope and Prophet Brand Strategy.
Galloway was elected to the World Economic Forum’s Global Leaders of Tomorrow and has served on the boards of directors of Eddie Bauer (Nasdaq: EBHI), The New York Times Company (NYSE: NYT), Gateway Computer, and UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Galloway co-hosts the Pivot podcast with Kara Swisher and in February 2020, he launched The Prof G Show, a weekly podcast answering listener questions on business, money, and tech
Galloway attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1987, and the UC BerkeleyHaas School of Business, graduating with an MBA in 1992.[1]
History
In 1992, Galloway founded Prophet, a brand and marketing consultancy firm; which was followed by starting Red Envelope in 1997, one of the earliest e-commerce sites. He founded the digital intelligence firm L2 Inc in 2005, which was acquired in March 2017 by Gartner and the now-defunct Firebrand Partners for $155 million. By 2019, Galloway founded the online education startup Section4. He raised $30 million in the Series A round in 2021 for total funding of $37 million.
Galloway is also known for his public presentations and TED-style talks,called Winners & Losers, in which he presented L2's Digital IQ Index results, ranking over 2,500 global brands across numerous dimensions including e-commerce, social media, and digital marketing. He was elected to the World Economic Forum's "Global Leaders of Tomorrow," which recognizes 100 individuals under the age of 40 whose accomplishments have had an impact on a global level.
Galloway teaches brand management and digital marketing to second-year MBA students. Much of his research focuses on "The Four," or "the Four Horsemen." His first book, The Four: The Hidden DNA of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google, was published in 2017. It analyzes the four companies' strengths and strategies, their economic models, and the drastic consequences of their rise that people face in both social and individual terms. [2]
