Mythos

JavaScript is a high-level, interpreted programming language widely used for web development, enabling interactive and dynamic content in browsers. Initially created in 1995 by Brendan Eich at Netscape, JavaScript has evolved into a versatile, multi-paradigm language supporting event-driven, functional, and object-oriented programming styles. It operates primarily within web browsers but also runs on servers via environments like Node.js. Standardized under the ECMAScript specification maintained by ECMA International, JavaScript is a core technology of the World Wide Web alongside @HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and @Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Modern JavaScript includes features such as asynchronous programming with promises and async/await, modular architecture via ES modules, and extensive APIs for manipulating the Document Object Model (DOM). The language is integral to frameworks and libraries like React, Angular, and Vue.js, which streamline the development of complex web applications. Its compatibility across platforms and continuous evolution through ECMAScript updates have secured JavaScript’s status as a foundational skill in software development. In 2022, while on a debugging call with @Eric Engoron of @Clay, he thought aloud in my presence, "well let me just try JavaScript [in a formula field] and see if it works." I asked "why would JavaScript work in formula fields?" and he responded, "because they're all JavaScript." It was at this point that I realized he/Clay had taught me (some) JavaScript.
