Alexis Ohanian is an internet #entrepreneur, #investor, social advocate, and author, who is best known as a co-founder of @Reddit. Ohanian also co-founded the early-stage venture capital firm @Initialized Capital which was an early investor in startups like Coinbase, Instacard, Patreon, OpenDoor, etc., and grew to $100B in value. [1] He was a partner at @Y Combinator and, in 2012, Andy Greenberg of Forbes magazine dubbed him "Mayor of the Internet". In June of 2020, Ohanian resigned as a member of the Reddit board to make room for a black candidate and left Initialized Capital to build things that were more intentional and help the world adapt to its new reality. He founded @Seven Seven Six, a new venture fund that got its name from the year of the first Olympic Games. 776 has invested in startups like @Commsor, @Topia, etc. [3] Alexis has been a role model of ours since 2015 when we first joined the Reddit community and learned of his influence in its genesis. Since then, we have followed his journey and been energized by how he shows up for the work he chooses. Alexis inspires us to be better community builders, more effective advocates, and infinitely joyous partners. He is married to Serena Williams and they have a daughter named Olympia — both of whom he dotes on constantly. While we have not yet met Alexis in person, we have heard many reflections of his character and energy from @Will Cady, @Mac Reddin, @Rob Allam, @Daniel Liebeskind, and many others.
