A discovery platform is one which has a @User Experience (UX) with the purpose of exposing its users to varying forms of media which they hadn't been directly seeking. Platforms characterized by their focus on discovery often overlap with @Democratic Platforms which elevate content based on its relative merit—determined by voting. Unlike timeline-focused platforms such as @Facebook, @Instagram, @X (Twitter), etc. which show a continually updated feed of posts shared by accounts a user chooses to follow, discovery platforms enable users to see media from outside of their existing sphere of influence.
