Mythos

A fractional CMO is a @Fractional Executive who provides C-level marketing guidance to businesses on a part-time or contract basis. Instead of hiring a full-time chief marketing officer, organizations engage a fractional CMO to develop and guide marketing strategy, lead teams, and solve high-priority marketing challenges. This approach offers companies access to experienced marketing leadership without the financial commitment of a full-time executive. Fractional CMOs often bring a broad range of expertise and may serve multiple organizations simultaneously, making them well-suited to rapidly evolving or resource-constrained environments. They are typically responsible for strategic planning, team development, and aligning marketing initiatives with business goals. I’ve served as a fractional CMO for startups like @Topia, @CulturePulse, and @Ape AI, among others, and have found the structure to be mutually beneficial. Compensation is usually a blend of equity and cash—often tied to a percentage of the founder’s own pay—ensuring that incentives are truly aligned. I also like to build in performance-driven elements, such as affiliate programs, so there’s upside for everyone if the marketing efforts succeed. The flexibility of this arrangement allows me to bring outside perspective and cross-pollinate ideas, while founders get high-leverage support without the overhead of a full-time executive. It’s a model that thrives on trust, transparency, and shared outcomes.
